Worksheet for Children and Beginner - Tenses - Past Simple Tense and Past Continuous Tense (P3)

Hi friends,

My teaching job is very busy but it's really fun. Inspite of this busy job, I have a chance to teach my cousins about Numerology of Pythagoras these days. If you have lived for over 28 years, I'm sure you have been suffered or dealt with some difficulties in life, maybe you think that's you've never passed over it. When you are in any circumstances, as long as you don't give up and think positive, there is a lift raise you up or your heart tell you to do the right thing in the right time, and finally you're ok and stronger than before. The Numerology is very special, just by calculating the number in your birthday, you know all about your life, your challenge, your bad habits and it can tell that you are on the right way of your life or not. My life had many challenges: in my work, I don't know why other people can make their job successfully in the easy way but me, although I've tried my best; I suffered when my aunt passed away in 2017. When I got into the Numerology, I knew why I had many things like this, and I realized that: "nothing happened in your life without a reason". So I think if my cousins know it soon, they will have a long time to prepare for these challenges and change their bad habits, their mind to make their life more beautiful. Thanks to Pythagoras and some Masters of Numerology, I've known who I am and I can do the right mission of my life.

Worksheet for Children and Beginner - Tenses - Present Perfect Tense and Past Simple Tense (P18-P23)

Hi friends,

The post today can be the last post of Present Perfect Tense and Past Simple Tense series. There are 6 worksheets (Worksheet 18 to 23) which focus on sentence transformation without changing the meaning. My students have some difficulties doing homework about rephrasing the sentence from present perfect tense or past simple tense to another form, so I created these worksheets to help them to practice more about it, also sharing on my blog and hope they can help you (or your students) to learn and teach English in the easiest way. This year is not easy for us, so sharing is caring, isn't it?

In sentence transformation, there are some forms you have to remember:

1) I started/began working .... => I have worked ...

Eg1: I started working in this company in 2017.

=> I have worked in this computer since 2017.

Eg2: I started working in this company 3 years ago.

=> I haven't worked in this company for 3 years.

Eg3: The last time I worked in this company when I was 24.

=> I haven't worked in this company since I was 24.

4) I last worked ... => I haven't worked ...

Eg1: I last worked in this company 3 years ago.

=> I haven't worked in this company for 3 years.

Eg2: I last worked in this company in August.

=> I haven't worked in this company since August.

Eg3: I last worked in this company when I was 24.

=> I haven't worked in this company since I was 24.

5) I stopped working ... => I haven't worked ...

Eg1: I stopped working in this company in August.

=> I haven't worked in this company since August.

Eg2: I stopped working in this company 3 years ago.

=> I haven't worked in this company for 3 years.

6) How long have you worked ...? => When did you work ...?

Eg: How long have you worked in this company?

=> When did you work in this company?

7) How long is it since you worked ...? => When did you work ...?

Eg: How long is it since you worked in this company?

=> When did you work in this company?

8) How long have you not worked ...? => When did you last work ...?

Eg: How long have you not worked in this company?

=> When did you last work in this company?

9) This/It is the first time I have (ever) eaten ...=> I haven't eaten ... before

Eg1: This is the first time I have ever eaten this kind of food.

Hi friends,

I had a two-week Lunar New Year Holiday. This year, the holiday was different from last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The students in my town still haven't come back to school until February, 28; so I have some time to relax and also have more time to prepare for the new lessons for my beloved students.

I hope everybody who believes in God, the Buddha or your religious to pray more and does more good things in order to wish the world will get over the pandemic soon. The pandemic comes because of the bad things we did for everyone around us and the nature, it comes to teach us a lesson. So if all of us repent of sin enough, the world will get better soon.

It has been almost a month since the last post, right. This week is not easy for me, my favorite artist passed away because of a stroke. You know, I and also his colleagues and his fans are very shocked because he was a healthy-happy man. I have tried my best to get out of the pain of this suffering and try to stay positive. It's a challenge for me also for some people who have lost an important person forever, especially in Covid-19 pandemic, I know there are some people who suffer from it. Listening to Budda's teaching and meditation music on the Internet are really helpful. Life is impermanent, when you see your family, your friends, your lovers who are beside you, this moment doesn't last forever, so please treat them as well as you can. Then if the impermanence comes, you have nothing to regret.

Today is a game worksheet for you (or your students) to review about do, does, am, is, are. It's Auxiliary Verbs - Do, Does, Am, Is, Are worksheet (P19 - Playtime). There are 5 mini games:

  • Game 1: Find the correct flower to the pot and color it.
  • Game 2: Use your answers in game 1 to complete the sentences and label the pots.
  • Game 3: Complete the dialogue about Nami-chan.
  • Game 4: Read the ideas and write True or False.
  • Game 5: Find the missing words in word search and fill in the blank.

I also include the answer key in the file, so you can check the correct answers when finishing. After this worksheet, you or your students will know how to use Do, Does, Am, Is, Are in the right way.

Worksheet for Children and Beginner - Tenses - Past Simple and Past Participle Spelling Rules - Present Perfect Tense and Past Simple Tense (P5)

 Hi friends,

Today is the post will show you how to add -ed in the correct way. I know you (or your students) have got confused when adding -ed to the verb, you don't know the spelling rules you have learned is correct or not. There are lots of English sources on the internet you can take a look, but you think it's not enough, some have this rule but some do not. My students have the same problem. So I decided to make the grammar sheet of Past Simple and Past Participle Spelling Rules.

There are 4 rules you have to remember when adding ed to the verb:

1. When the verbs end in "e" => add "d"

Eg: arrive => arrived         ; realize => realized

2. When the verbs end in consonant + "y" => omit "y" then add "ied"

Eg: try => tried                 ; study => studied

3. When the verbs end in consonant 1 + vowel + consonant 2 (excludes w, x, y) => double the consonant 2 then add "ed"

* Note: do not use this rule for a two-syllable verb when the stress is on the first syllable

Eg: prefer (/prɪˈfɝː/) => preferred         but     happen /ˈhæp.ən/ => happened

4. When the verbs end in consonant + vowel + "l" => add "led" (US) or add "ed" (UK)

Eg: travel => travelled (US) or traveled (UK)

Download here: https://bit.ly/2XlJMWh

I also include the examples and exercises for you (or your students) to practice and use these spelling rules in the right way. You can check the answer key on page 2.

Hope this worksheet can help you to learn English with effortless. Share if you think it's helpful.
